Fixing your leaky or hard to flush toilet

Lately here at Mr Fix It Oklahoma we have been helping people fix their leaking or hard to flush toilets while out on other repairs.  This is a fairly easy fix that most people can handle and the part to fix it only costs $2.  These are the steps to diagnose what part of your toilet is not working correctly and most times the $2 gasket is all you need.

1.  Remove the tank lid

2.  Flush the toilet  (If the handle requires a lot of force the problem already lies in the gasket, if the toilet is running then you will need to listen as to where it is leaking)

Home Projects become too Big to Manage

It happens to most of us all too often.  A bunch of small projects around the home turn into big projects and the homeowner quickly becomes overwhelmed.  The past client we just got done working with came upon this exact issue.  Small trees became big ones.  Low grass and weeds over their septic field quickly became a wild forest.  A post on the deck began to rot and then over time became structurally unsound.  Winter is approaching and the home owner heats the home with a wood burning fire place that needed to be cleaned out before winter.  Wood needed to be split to give them their heating fuel source prior to winter.  A new water heater was needing to be installed but pipes in the main manifold had began to rust and needed to be replaced prior to the install.  And last but not least a dryer vent needed to be installed in the basement.  Basically the home owner had become over whelmed at the amount of work that needed to be done.

New Deck Construction

Recently I was asked if I would be interested in helping to install a deck for a client.  The first questioned asked by the client was if I was willing to not only be more of a lead on the project but whether I had a problem with him helping as much as he could and with him supplying the materials needed for the project.  My reply was....when would you like to start.  My hope when I first started my company was to lend the hand to people who like me liked the work but just needed some guidance and extra muscle to help them accomplish there goals around the house.  Though we also are more than willing to help without our clients assistance, it also is fun to have the extra company on the job site as well as the extra set of arms.

Going from Old and Outdated to New and Open Concept

As you could probably tell from the lack of new material I have been busy.  I decided to take a moment because I am very proud of a recent remodel job I was able to complete recently.  This great little house had the perfect bones for an update.  Though I did modify one wall to scheive a more open concept.  Much of the work you see was more cosmetic.  As you can see from the before and after photos a lot of work was needed to make this a great little home.  We totally revamped the kitchen layout by opening up a wall and installing new appliances, kitchen cabinets, countertops, flooring and lighting.  In the living and dining room we removed the old wood paneling, retextured the walls, paint, and new flooring.  And last but not least the entire exterior of the home was repainted.  Should you be interested in a home in Tulsa Oklahoma it is also now for sale!  It was a lot of hard work but we hope you like the finished product as much as I did.
